The truth about breakfast.

Firstly, let’s say that skipping breakfast will NOT help you to lose weight.

People usually skip breakfast for many different reasons: to cut calories, because “I have really no time for that” or because “my yesterday dinner was huge” or “I am still too sleepy” or “I just need a strong coffee”... Whatever reason it is you are NOT doing the right choice if you want to lose weight.

Studies show that people who eat breakfast are leaner than those who don’t.

That said, it does not mean that eating or not breakfast causes weight loss or weight gain. It is very much more complicated but there are some FACTS to consider:

1-      Eating a well-balanced breakfast reduces how hungry you feel throughout the day because it reduces the level of the hunger hormone called GHRELIN (AKA the infamous one)

2-      Research has demonstrated that people who eat breakfast are less tempted by images of unhealthy food (and this is a powerful weapon, isn’t it?)

It is very personal what you should eat but be sure that includes high fibre such as wholegrain cereals + a source of protein and a portion of fresh fruit. Protein is the most satiating macro-nutrient, fibre avoids spikes and drops of your blood sugar and fresh fruit contains antioxidants.  In the next post I will share some healthy and balanced options you can choose from.
